The Importance of Magnesium to Your Wellbeing

Updated: Feb 4, 2020

Magnesium is an important mineral, playing a role in over 300 enzyme reactions in the human body. Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in your body. It is used by virtually every organ, but is particularly important to your heart, muscles and kidney. Its many functions include helping with muscle and nerve function, regulating blood pressure, and supporting the immune system.

Did you know that the human body is approximately 75% deficient in magnesium? Magnesium deficiency, also known as hypomagnesemia, is an electrolyte disturbance in which there is a low level of magnesium in the body.

According to the National Institutes of Health, “early signs of magnesium deficiency can include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and weakness. As magnesium deficiency worsens, numbness, tingling, muscle contractions and cramps, seizures, personality changes, abnormal heart rhythms, and coronary spasms can occur. Severe magnesium deficiency can result in hypocalcemia or hypokalemia (low serum calcium or potassium levels, respectively) because mineral homeostasis is disrupted”. disrupted”.

To improve how your feel, increase your magnesium intake. The daily recommended intake of magnesium for adult males between the ages of 19 to 30 is 400 mg and for their female counterparts, it's 310 mg. Adult men over age 31 need 420 mg, while females over age 31 need 320 mg daily. I have found that the absorption rate of magnesium in my bloodstream increases if I apply it topically. My love of Plumeria products stems from my introduction to their Magnesium Cream. It is a staple at my house for most things that ail me. There is a Dreamy Time, Regular, and CBD version of the Magnesium Cream. Type “magnesium” in the search bar to find a variety of products with magnesium.
